The Gophers women’s soccer team sports a record of 11-7-2 — the same record it had at the end of last season.

The difference between the two years? The 2013 Gophers are going dancing.

Minnesota was selected for the 64-team NCAA tournament field Monday afternoon, one of eight Big Ten teams to qualify.

The Gophers will take on No. 11 Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, in the first round Friday.

Texas Tech (17-2-2) finished second in the Big 12 regular season standings.

Minnesota will be tested against the Red Raiders, but it’s proven at times this season that it can compete with top teams. The Gophers’ season featured wins over then-No. 7 Penn State and then-No. 13 Michigan.
