MONTREAL (AP) — At least 30 people were injured, three of them seriously, in an explosion Wednesday at a brake-shoes factory near Montreal, police said.
Police spokesman Marc Parent said the most serious injuries were to three workers close to the blast who suffered burns and lung damage.
He said the explosion took place in a large industrial oven at Fasa Friction Laboratories which either malfunctioned or had a gas leak.
Fire department officials in the Montreal suburb of St. Laurent said it was the third explosion at the plant in less than two years. They said the other two were less serious.
