The voice of Gophers mens hockey for the past 24 years is no more, as Fox Sports North announced Frank Mazzocco will not have his contract renewed for next season.
Mazzocco had teamed with former Gophers head coach Doug Woog for years, but senior vice president and general manager of Fox Sports North Mike Dimond announced Mazzocco’s contract will not be renewed, and Woog will be re-assigned for next season.
Taking over Mazzocco’s role of play-by-play will be Anthony LaPanta, who has previously worked on the Gophers mens’hockey pregame show as well as working play-by-play calls for the Minnesota high school hockey tournament.
Dimond has refused to comment on the frontrunner for the analyst position.
