Daily Digest – Klobuchar in Vietnam, Police Dog shot, New QB

I know it’s been spring for a while now, but now I’m starting to believe it. To accompany the good weather, relax with a little bit of U of M news.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar visited Vietnam Monday and is scheduled to meet up with some University of Minnesota students studying abroad in Peking, China. Klobuchar is traveling with Sen. John McCain and the two are scheduled to visit a prison where McCain was tortured when he was a captive, according to the St Cloud Times article.

A police dog shot Monday night in a shootout between police and an armed gunman in St. Paul was taken to a University of Minnesota’s veterinary hospital. The dog took a bullet to the head, but has survived, according to the Pioneer Press article.

A south-east Wisconsin high school quarter back has committed to playing for Minnesota. The 6-foot-3 Tom Parish has two sisters who attend the U and said he thinks Minnesota is a rising team, according to the Journal Sentinel article.
