Senior Harun Abda earned the Big Ten conference's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor Wednesday.
Abda won the 800-meter run at the Stanford Invitational last weekend. His time of 1:48.64 ranks first in the NCAA so far this season. This is Abda's first outdoor award of his career.
Redshirt freshman Alex Brend was the last Gophers men's track and field honoree from March 20 when he won the 800-meter run at the Baldy Castillo Invitational. That same week, senior Quentin Mege won the Field Athlete of the Week award for his school-record hammer throw of 67.49 meters at the same meet.
The Gophers will compete again this weekend at Hamline.
