The Hennepin County Medical Examiner late Thursday night released the name of the victim in the July 6 nighttime shooting in Southeast Minneapolis.
Steven D. McKee, 19, was shot to death once in the chest in the Como neighborhood by an unidentified killer. McKee is not affiliated with the University.
More than 12 hours after the shooting, homicide investigators found McKee’s body in a wooded area about 100 feet away from the house where the incident occurred.
The Medical Examiner listed McKee’s address as 1091 18th Ave. S.E. — the house where he was shot. But several Minneapolis police reports list his address as 4133 Penn Ave. N.
Rajab Jabbar, 22, accompanied McKee to the home where he was shot on the night of the killing. He notified police officers of the shooting around 10:30 p.m. on July 6.
Jabbar lived in a halfway house in Dinkytown until Tuesday, July 7. Bob Rysgaard, Jabbar’s probation officer, said he was not authorized to release information regarding Jabbar’s termination from the house.
Jabbar is under probation supervision for the next 10 years for committing two counts of second degree assault in 1996.
