Body pulled from Mississippi River, says University of Minnesota Police

Officials are awaiting identification of the body.

Late Saturday evening, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of an adult man from the Mississippi River, according to the University of Minnesota Police Department.

Officials are awaiting identification of the body by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office.

On Friday, an ongoing investigation was underway for a missing person, according to a campus-wide public safety alert emailed by UMPD.

In the notice, UMPD stated that 55-year-old Rinzin Dorjee was reported missing by a coworker at the University late Thursday night.

Police determined that Dorjee was injured at work, after finding blood in the area. A video recording allegedly shows Dorjee walking toward the intersection of Fulton Street Southeast and Ontario Street Southeast, according to the public safety update.

The notice states that police found Dorjee’s unoccupied vehicle, and determined that he did not return to his house, or seek medical attention.
