High school band update: The Get Up Kids

by Jay Boller

Before emo was a filthy, dirty, awful word, The Get Up Kids were a band.

For ten years their fresh take on the then-obscure genre established them as cult favorites before a 2005 break-up.

Now older, reunited and (hopefully) still ready to evoke tears/rock at the same time, they’re on campus. Tonight.

Tickets are a little steep at $20, but the Varsity’s proximity to the University saves both cab and beer money (word to the wise: pound some brehs at your apartment prior to doors).

Doors at 7:30 p.m.
