Minnesota first varsity four was named Co-Big Ten Boat of the Week Tuesday after two victories and one runner-up finish at the Oak Ridge Invitational Saturday and Sunday. The Gophers shared the honor with Indiana’s first varsity eight.

Minnesota's first varsity four made up of Jackie Stein, Nicolette Marquardt, Jaime Friscia, Chelsea Miller, and Melissa Drezdzon defeated second-place Buffalo by 14 seconds in the morning session. In the afternoon session, the crew of Stein, Marquardt, Friscia, Miller, and Sarah Sobek captured another victory and beat second-place Notre Dame by more than 14 seconds.

The Gophers last earned a Big Ten Boat of the Week accolade nearly a year ago to date on March 22, 2011.
