The Minnesota Daily’s Office of the Publisher named Jessica Thompson, the Daily’s managing editor, as interim editor in chief Tuesday. Thompson will fill the position until Todd Millbourn returns Jan. 15 from a 60-day suspension.
She also will continue to serve as managing editor.
The Daily’s editor in chief traditionally oversees all functions of newspaper content. Because Thompson will be keeping her position in the newsroom, she will not be in charge of the editorial board and opinions sections.
Thompson will now be a voting member on the Daily’s Board of Directors and in the Office of the Publisher, which is made up of the Daily’s editor in chief, president and business manager.
Shanna Orr, president of the Daily’s board of directors, said newspaper business will proceed as normal.
