Yudof’s budget request gains further support

For the third time in two days, University President Mark Yudof and fellow leaders stumped for their quest Tuesday night to pass a $249 million capital budget request.
School officials brought their package, the largest in the school’s history, to the fourth annual legislative briefing of the University’s alumni association. About 150 people attended the event in Coffman Union, most of whom were members of the Alumni Legislative Network. The group’s main task is supporting higher education by lobbying legislators.
“If you hang tough, we will hang tough,” said Yudof, as he urged alumni to fax or call their legislators to support the University’s entire package. Contrary to legislative policy, the school has not ranked their funding priorities because officials want lawmakers to approve the full amount.
Members supported the request’s faculty retention and historic preservation.
Highlighting the proposal’s provisions for all University campuses, Lee Raeth, alumnus and extension faculty member said, “It’s a good all-around package.”
