New details of Trayvon Martin shooting emerge

New details about the Trayvon Martin case have trickled out, CBS reported.

The unarmed 17-year-old had been suspended from school and was accused of attacking George Zimmerman, the man who shot him.

Investigators believe Martin punched Zimmerman and knocked him to the ground before bashing his head into the sidewalk, prompting Zimmerman to shoot Martin in self-defense.

Martin’s high school had suspended him three times for reasons including vandalism, truancy, tardiness and marijuana possession.

Martin’s parents said authorities are trying to destroy his reputation. Demonstrators have continued to march in protest of the shooting and a 2 million-strong petition has demanded Zimmerman’s arrest.
