Minnesota women’s basketball player Brandy Pickens is on her way to Europe. But it won’t be a vacation for the senior center.
Pickens, a native of Flint, Mich., was the lone Gophers player to be selected a member of the 2000 Big Ten Foreign Tour Team.
The team, in its ninth year, will travel to Austria, Slovakia and Hungry for five games scheduled for Aug. 10-17.
Pickens, who averaged 3.8 points and 5.6 rebounds last season, was voted the Gophers most improved player. She’ll serve as the team’s captain this upcoming season.
Also on the team is Wisconsin’s Tamara Moore, a junior guard from Minneapolis. Michigan’s Sue Guevara will serve as the team’s head coach.
