University student robbed at gunpoint near Dinkytown

The incident marks the third robbery near campus in the past three weeks.
A University of Minnesota student was robbed early Friday morning near campus, according to a press release from the Minneapolis Police
Department.

According to the release, the student was walking near 14th Avenue Southeast and Seventh Street Southeast when he was approached by three men. The men assaulted him and pointed a gun at him, demanding his possessions. They took a wallet, cellphone and backpack before fleeing.

This robbery was the third on or near the University campus in the last three weeks.

One occurred near the Carlson School of Management as the victim exited the school on Nov 21. In that case, the perpetrator showed the victim a firearm tucked into his coat.

On Nov. 25, a man was walking on the 10th Avenue Bridge near University Avenue Southeast when four men assaulted him and took his valuables.
