Daughter of Russian soccer team director released by kidnappers

MOSCOW (AP) — The 11-year-old daughter of a Russian soccer team director was released by her kidnappers Tuesday, three months after she was captured for ransom.
The daughter of Batraz Bitarov, director of the prominent Alania soccer club from the Caucasus mountains region of North Ossetia, was kidnapped by three masked men in the city of Vladikavkaz.
She was held for 66 days in the basement of a house on the outskirts of Vladikavkaz, Bitarov told the ITAR-Tass news agency, adding that kidnappers called him several times with ransom demands.
The girl, whose name was not given, was not injured, the report said. The details of her release, including whether a ransom has been paid, were not disclosed.
