Minnesota men’s basketball coach Dan Monson suspended junior Shane Schilling indefinitely on Saturday for violating team rules.
Schilling, expected to compete for the starting job at shooting guard, did not participate in the team’s closed-door scrimmage on Saturday. His return is at Monson’s discretion.
This is the second offense for Schilling, who started 31 games a year ago. As a freshman he was suspended for an undisclosed violation and missed three games.
“It concerns you when you lose anybody to a suspension,” Monson said on Sunday. “We have 10 scholarshiped players, and even though we feel like we’re versatile, we can’t afford to lose anyone for any reason.”
