A walk on the St. Paul campus today will raise awareness about domestic abuse and violence against women.
The Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse, along with the Gender Violence in Global Perspectives (SW 3705) class, is sponsoring the walk, which begins at 10 a.m.
The walk will begin at Peters Hall and end at the St. Paul Student Center. Walkers will return to Peters Hall for a seminar with local speakers working to end violence against women.
Ann Kranz, director of Violence Against Women Online Resources, said one of the event’s purposes is to let people know that gender violence happens to people all over – from next door to across the globe.
“This event helps to remind us that violence against women is not isolated to certain groups or areas but is a significant societal problem around the globe,” Kranz said.
