UMN student assaulted near mechanical engineering building

The student was assaulted by a group of males and was treated for minor injuries.

A University student was assaulted and robbed near the Mechanical Engineering building Friday night, according to a University timely warning.

Two suspects were arrested at the site of the assault, but the primary suspect and two or three other suspects were not captured.

The assault and robbery happened around 10 p.m., according to the University of Minnesota Police Department report. The victim said five to six males followed him from the East Bank Light Rail platform and began to kick and punch him in the head on Church Street.

Students leaving the Mechanical Engineering building interrupted the assault.

The victim was treated for minor injuries.
