Star recruit Trevor Mbakwe has been accused of assualting a Miami woman in April according to a Pioneer Press article.
Mbakwe said the claims aren’t true but has to return to Miami for a court case on Aug. 26.
The police report said the woman recognized Mbakwe from his picture with the Miami-Dade College basketball team.
Mbakwe said Minnesota head coach Tubby Smith knows everything. This is what athletics director Joel Maturi had to say:
"Sometimes people are accurately accused. Sometimes people are falsely accused. Sometimes there’s truth in between. We need to know what the facts are before I think any decisions are made," Maturi said.
