Gophers take down Spartans in five sets

The No. 9 Minnesota volleyball team improved to 16-5 overall, 7-2 in the Big Ten by beating Michigan State in a five set comeback effort Friday night with final scores of 25-14, 19-25, 21-25, 25-17 and 15-9.

The Gophers were lead by freshman Tabitha Love who finished the night with 18 kills.  Junior Lauren Gibbemeyer finished with 12 kills and four blocks.  Junior Hailey Cowles, starting at outside hitter in place of the now departed Brook Dieter, had a solid match with 8 kills and 16 digs.

The Gophers now move on to face No. 11 Michigan at Williams Arena on Saturday, the match kicks off at 7 p.m.
