The search for the pilot of a one-man plane that went missing over northeastern Minnesota has yielded no results, according to the Pioneer Press.

The spokeswoman of the Lysdale Flying Service has identified the identity of the pilot as Michael Bratlie of Lakeville.

The search for Bratlie began Saturday morning and was complicated  by Bratlie’s failure to file a flight plan or speak with air traffic control according to Jerry Rosendahl, spokesman with the Civil Air Patrol.

Bratlie’s flight was intended to fly from Fleming Field in South St. Paul to the Duluth airport and back on Friday, reported the Star Tribune.

The search area spanned from Silver Bay to the Canadian border, including an area of Lake Superior where Bratlie’s cell phone was last traced during his flight.

Civil Air Patrol airplanes, ground teams and volunteers at the Duluth airport  joined in the search Sunday.

The plane is a white twin-engine Piper PA31 Navaho with red and blue stripes. Those with any information should contact their local law enforcement.
