Men finish 13th in Georgia

Weather shortened the tournament to 36 holes.

The Gophers men’s golf team shot 30-over par to finish 13th out of 14 teams at the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday.

Alabama won the tournament at 16-under par with a team score of 560 at the Great Waters golf course in Greensboro, Ga. Minnesota finished with a total of 606

Weather played a huge factor in the tournament. Rain and thunder delayed round two, which was ultimately suspended due to darkness.

The tournament was shortened to two rounds instead of three because of more bad weather.

Sophomore Tyler Lowenstein had the lowest score for Minnesota in both rounds. He and senior Erik Van Rooyen shot 1-over par 73s on Sunday.

Lowenstein tied for 32nd, while Van Rooyen finished three shots back and tied for 46th place.

The Gophers will compete next in the Stanford Intercollegiate tournament March 28-30 in Palo Alto, Calif.
