Teach for America, a program that places college graduates in high-need school districts as teachers, is expanding its program to Twin Cities-area schools.
The 40 new Twin Cities teachers had their training at the University on Wednesday.
The Teach for America organization already has programs in 35 regions throughout the country, including Milwaukee and Chicago in the Midwest. Graduates that teach in the new Twin Cities region will begin in fall of this year, and will be placed in a school in Minneapolis, Brooklyn Park or St. Paul.
