UMPD searching for suspicious male on East Bank

University of Minnesota Police are searching for a suspicious man, possibly carrying a weapon, on the East Bank campus Sunday morning. 

An emergency alert sent to students across several platforms said the man was last seen near Keller Hall carrying a knife or screwdriver and may be high on narcotics. 

Another round of alerts said after a search of the Keller Hall area, UMPD did not locate the man. He could be in other parts of campus or the surrounding area, according to the announcement.

The messages describe the man as “black male, 30 years old, 6 [feet] tall, heavyset build, short hair, wearing an orange or red jacket and carrying white New Balance shoes.”

The students who reported the man to police were unharmed. 

Anyone who sees the man is urged not to engage with him, but is encouraged to call 911 or 612-624-7828.
