Beuckens qualifies for NCAA all-around

While the Minnesota women’s gymnastics team was kept out of the NCAA championships with its fourth-place finish Saturday, the Gophers’ Megan Beuckens qualified to compete in the all-around competition.
The sophomore finished tied for fourth in the all-around competition at the regional meet Saturday to earn the spot. She is ranked 20th in the floor exercise and was ranked in the top 25 in the all-around during January.
She is the first Gopher to qualify for the NCAA championship meet since Marie Roethlisberger in 1990. Roethlisberger won the uneven bars title that year. The Gophers qualified for the national meet in 1997, when they finished 10th.
There are 50 Division I teams in the NCAA, 12 of which qualify for the NCAA championship meet, which begins April 13 in Boise, Idaho.
