1500 ESPN: Brewster’s job on line at Purdue

According to a story from ESPN’s Twin Cities radio network, Gophers head football coach Tim Brewster will be coaching with his job on the line Saturday at Purdue.

Team spokesman Andy Seeley would not confirm or deny the report.

“Tim Brewster is our head football coach until Tim Brewster or Joel Maturi says otherwise,” Seeley said.

According to the ESPN report, “The university drafted a press release and devised a media plan on Thursday to move forward if the Gophers lose their sixth consecutive game, sources said.”

Rivals.com reporter Tom Dienhart also tweeted that he has confirmed Minnesota Althetics Director Joel Maturi recently met with Brewster’s representatives.

The Gophers have lost five games in a row after opening the season with a win at Middle Tennessee State. They play the Boilermakers (3-2) in West Lafayette, Ind. at 11 a.m. (central).
