West River Parkway repairs begin

Repairs have begun for the West River Parkway after a mudslide closed it down last year, the Star Tribune reports.

The article states that the mudslide damaged the slope during June 2014 and that repairs are expected to cost about $6 million. Officials involved in the project are hoping that the cost will be partially reimbursed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In addition to repairs, five retaining walls will be constructed on land owned by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board and the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

The parks board website states that the repairs will take until October to complete.
