Two shot near campus early Wednesday

The victims suffered nonfatal injuries and transported themselves to the hospital.

Two people were shot early Wednesday morning near the University of Minnesota, according to a campuswide Neighborhood Safety Notice issued Wednesday afternoon.

The two victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. They are not affiliated with the University, according to the school’s safety alert.

The Minneapolis Police Department and University of Minnesota Police Department responded around 2:20 a.m. to reports of a shooting close to the intersection of 14th Avenue Southeast and 6th Street Southeast, about a block from campus, according to the University’s notice.

MPD spokesman John Elder said that they are conducting an investigation that is “still in its infancy.”
