Reports: Minnesota football players plan to meet with two UMN regents

Drew Wolitarsky requested a meeting Thursday with regents Michael Hsu and Darrin Rosha Thursday.

Members of the Minnesota football team have plans to meet with the University regents Friday afternoon, multiple outlets have reported.

The Gophers football team announced their plan to boycott the team’s appearance in a Dec. 27 Holiday Bowl game and all team activities and practices Thursday — following the suspension of 10 players Tuesday over a sexual assault investigation.

Drew Wolitarsky, a senior on the football team and the player who read the team’s prepared statement, requested a meeting Thursday with regents Michael Hsu and Darrin Rosha.

On Friday morning, members of the Minnesota football team met with Lee Hutton, the attorney representing the 10 suspended players, the Star Tribune reported.

A spokesperson for the University could not confirm whether the meeting had been planned or not. As of 3:20 p.m., Rosha told the Minnesota Daily that no meeting had been set up yet.

Rosha said it is possible the players are meeting with other regents, but he is not aware of one.

This is breaking news, the Minnesota Daily’s report will be updated as news develops.
