The Gophers baseball team’s game at Iowa State on Wednesday was cancelled because of rain. No make-up date has been scheduled.
Minnesota plays Illinois in a four-game series this weekend in Champaign. The Gophers trail the first-place Illini by two games in the Big Ten.
Gophers sign three
Three athletes signed national letters of intent to compete for Minnesota’s men’s cross country and track and field teams.
Andrew McKessock (Owen Sound, Ontario) is the top-rated 1,500-meter runner out of Canada and was the Canadian junior champion in the 1,500.
Lyndon McDowell (Elgin, Ontario) is the top Canadian junior decathlete.
Zachary Edmonson (Ballwin, Mo.) was Missouri’s state champion in the 800-meter run.
Beatty headed to meet
Senior men’s gymnast George Beatty will be in University Park, Pa., starting today for the NCAA Championships.
Beatty qualified for the meet by finishing in a tie for 12th place on the parallel bars at the NCAA East Regional meet in Amherst, Mass.
