First case hits U Twin Cites campus, and a student is thought to have had flu while attending U Morris New Student Weekend.

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities saw its first confirmed case of the H1N1 influenza last week, said Dave Golden, director of marketing and public health for Boynton Health Services. Golden said Boynton is treating the case like regular influenza, and that lab testing is ongoing. Two cases of H1N1 flu have been confirmed among students of the University of Minnesota, Morris. Sandra Olson-Loy, the vice chancellor for student affairs, said one of the students was attending new student registration on June 10, and is thought to have had the H1N1 virus while on campus. The other Morris student is a non-resident who became ill while in the Twin Cities.
