The University of Minnesota recently hired Dr. Mercedes Ramírez Fernández as the new vice president for equity and diversity.
The building and surrounding area opened back up to the public about two hours after the evacuation.

The University is also hiring more community safety officers, expanding the Gopher Chauffeur service and implementing additional street lights and cameras.
