As the Super Bowl approaches, people are thinking about wings, beer and pizza — a massive gluten overload.
But for gluten-intolerant folks, big social gatherings like the Super Bowl are a digestive tract’s worst nightmare. Fear not; cauliflower will solve all your problems.
There are many gluten-free options, ranging from pizza crusts to bread. But there is another option which includes a heaping serving of veggies while indulging — the best of both worlds.
Cauliflower pizza crust
Did you know cauliflower is in the same family as kale? Cauliflower belongs to the cruciferous vegetable group alongside broccoli, bok choy and cabbage. Packed full of vitamins and minerals, cauliflowers also have wonderful antioxidant and detoxification benefits.
1 head of cauliflower
1 egg
3/4 cup grated cheddar
1/4 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
Optional: 1 teaspoon dried herbs (basil, rosemary or oregano)
1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Cut the cauliflower into florets and give them a good rinse.
3. Shake off the excess water and roast the cauliflower florets in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
4. Let the baked cauliflower florets cool for 10 minutes, then put them in a food processor and rice it.
Optional: Put the riced cauliflower into a cheesecloth or any straining bag and squeeze out the excess water.
5. Add in all the remaining ingredients and mix well.
6. Spread the cauliflower dough onto a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes.
The cauliflower pizza crust is versatile — you can use it like a regular pizza crust and top it with your favorite ingredients.

Breadsticks
It’s easy to turn the cauliflower crust into breadsticks. Just add some cheese on top and prepare a yummy sauce for dunking.

Spicy marinara sauce
What are breadsticks without a dipping sauce? The gooey, cheesy, cauliflower-based breadsticks are not complete without a spicy marinara sauce.
1 can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Pinch of dried basil
Pinch of dried oregano
1. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan on low. Once the oil is heated, add the red pepper flakes.
2. Add the tomato sauce and dried herbs and increase the heat to medium.
