The Gophers have recorded seven consecutive victories in dual meets to open the season this year.
Minnesota is ranked No. 19 this season after finishing with the 23rd-best national qualifying score at the end of last season.
“It comes from a lot of the preparation we did earlier in the year,” head coach Jenny Hansen said. “I think that was big. They are coming together as a team, working really well together as a team.”
The Gophers are ranked the fourth-highest among Big Ten teams, behind No. 18 Iowa, No. 14 Nebraska and No. 4 Michigan.
“We’re really happy with where we’re at,” senior Lindsay Mable said. “We’re pleased with the changes that we’re seeing being applied and the consistency of the team. I think that’s huge.”
The Gophers team scores have shown improvement since their first meet, and the team earned a season-high score of 196.300 two weeks ago at Nebraska.
The Gophers also have a deep all-around roster with Mable and sophomores Abby DeMuse and Ciara Gardner.
Mable won the all-around title at six meets this year and was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week four times.
Gardner set a season-high against Ohio State with a 39.150 to finish second.
DeMuse has also contributed in the event, notching a career-high score of 39.250 in the event against Nebraska on Feb. 12.
Minnesota has two dual meets left against No. 13 Denver and Air Force before the Big Ten Qualifier. After that, the team will try to enhance its sixth-place finish at last year’s Big Ten Championships.
“I think we are right on track [to] where we want to be,” Hansen said. “We’re getting better each and every week.”
