Systems Administrator Department: Information Systems Department Reports To: Information Systems Manager Pay Grade: Tech Responsibilities:

  • Organize maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Daily computer equipment.
  • Production and maintenance of equipment records.
  • Assist with production and maintenance of documentation of supported hardware and software.
  • Supervise teams directed for specific systems development.
  • Report to IS Manager on issues/concerns regarding systems (old and new) and development projects.
  • Analyze and schedule maintenance to existing or projected systems.
  • Participate in the specification of new computer equipment.
  • Qualifications:
  • Related major preferred (MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)
  • Experience with various types of hardware and software is a must.
  • Must have ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Experience with MN Daily’s computer architecture and systems helpful.
  • Must be a University of Minnesota student.
  • Essential Functions
  • Must have the ability to hear and speak English clearly.
  • Frequently requires the ability to visually analyze information.
  • Regularly requires verbal intelligence to convey ideas, knowledge and thorough critiques for department and other Daily staff.
  • Regularly requires repetitive finger motion and finger dexterity.
  • Must occasionally be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Occasionally requires crouching or stooping and reaching or stretching when working with computers and electrical equipment.
  • There is an occasional risk of electric shock when working with machines.
  • The position requires near acuity where there is clarity of vision at twenty feet or more with or without corrective lenses.
  • Motor coordination skills necessary while working with computers and other equipment.
  • Color distinction is necessary in looking at different wires.
