Minnesota’s men’s hockey team recorded its first lost in a weekend series split with unranked Vermont, but didn’t drop in the rankings, remaining at No. 8 for the second straight week.
Minnesota defeated Vermont 6-0 on Friday, but lost the second game of the weekend series 5-4. Kent Patterson allowed his first goal at home all season in Sunday’s loss.
The Gophers now sit at 5-1-0 with a record of 2-0-0 in WCHA games. They will travel to Alaska this upcoming weekend and take on Alaska Anchorage in their second WCHA matchup of the season.
Alaska Anchorage is the same team that knocked the Gophers out of the WCHA playoffs last season.
