This something is a man with a YouTube channel and a heart of gold known as Nardwuar. Referred to as “The Human Serviette,” this British Columbia repping music enthusiast is one of the most thorough, endearingly irritating and talented interviewers of our time. He has a style that is all his own, commonly impressing his interviewees (or annoying the hell out of them.) Here’s some classics to get you started on everyone’s favorite Canadian music nerd.
This is a compilation of Nardwuar’s many interviews with the ex-Dead Kennedy’s frontman. Nardwuar has an incredible knowledge of the history of punk rock–this video encapsulates his encyclopedic brain.
This may be the only interview I’ve seen in which Nardwuar gets remotely irritated. Tyler the Creator and his posse spent most of this interview cursing and goofing around, which makes for a pretty amusing video.
While this interview gets sour towards the end, it’s a prime example of Nardwuar’s incredible ability to dig deep into an artist’s history. The sheer amount of “gifts” Nardwuar throws at Nas is spellbinding.
