Jenkins’ family announces $50,000 reward for information

The family of missing Carlson School of Management student Chris Jenkins announced a reward of up to $50,000 on Monday for information leading to Jenkins’ return.

The reward is funded by the Jenkins family and individual donations.

“We want this reward to help speed up this criminal investigation,” Chris Jenkins’ father Steve Jenkins said. “All we’re looking for is that one next piece of the puzzle that puts closure to the picture.”

Steve said there are a number of different theories surrounding Jenkins’ disappearance, so there is no specific direction to look.

“We do know that (Jenkins) was escorted out of (The Lone Tree Bar & Grill),” he said. “We don’t know a lot from that point forward.

“Our main message to everyone is ‘someone knows.’ You can’t tell me that at 12:30 (p.m.) or 12:45 (a.m.) on Sixth and Hennepin if someone’s outside, there aren’t people that have seen them. That place is crowded,” Chris Jenkins’ mother Jan Jenkins said.

Sara Jenkins, Chris Jenkins’ sister, said since she began searching for her brother, she learned there is a “false sense of security” in downtown Minneapolis.

The Jenkins family said they would not reveal the leads investigators are working on because it could hinder the investigation.

Sara said the family received surveillance tapes from several downtown building cameras. They have since handed the tapes to the police for further investigation.

Authorities were off Monday for Veterans Day and could not be reached for comment.

On Tuesday, the Jenkins family plans to move their search headquarters at Holiday Inn Minneapolis Metrodome to a location that will be disclosed on www.findchrisjenkins.com. The headquarters’ new phone number is (612) 849-1031.

Steve Jenkins said he called The Lone Tree Bar & Grill three times the night after Chris disappeared, but his calls were never returned.

Representatives from the bar could not be reached for comment.
