Swedish center Amanda Zahui B. has been cleared by the NCAA and will officially join the Gophers women's basketball team, head coach Pam Borton announced Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5-inch center signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Minnesota in May, but the NCAA did not confirm her eligibility in time for her to join the Gophers this fall.
"I am very excited Amanda will be joining the team this winter," Borton said in a release. "She worked extremely hard the last five months in order to become eligible, and it only reinforces how dedicated she is to becoming a Gopher."
Zahui B. is one of Sweden's top players. She has played with Sweden's national team the past six years, and her club team Telge Basket is one of the best in the country.
