Cross Country finishes in teens

The Minnesota men’s cross country team took 15th at the NCAA championships on Monday at Indiana, good for the team’s best finish since 1981 when it took 12th.
Andrew McKessock was the top Gophers finisher at 64th. Jeremy Polson was 97th, Joey Corr was 102nd, Eric Pierce was 106th and Will McComb rounded out the scorers at 136th place.
Minnesota finished with 392 points, well behind Arkansas which won with 58 points.

Women’s cross country
The women had a decent showing at the meet, finishing 17th.
Minnesota senior Rasa Michniovaite was the highest finisher, placing 66th with her time of 17:48.10, almost a minute behind Erica Palmer, the winner from Wisconsin.
The Gophers’ Corinne Nimtz took 79th, Elaine Eggleston came in 92nd, Deb Hudleston was 135th and Victoria Moses took 188th to round out the Minnesota scorers at the 250-runner meet.
Brigham Young won the meet with a total of 72 points. The Gophers had 434 points, 18 behind Big Ten rival Michigan which finished 15th.
