The Minneapolis Police Department responded to three gunpoint robberies near campus last week, while the University of Minnesota Police Department recorded few crimes in that time.

Jersey Mike’s Subs on 14th Avenue Southeast reported being robbed at gunpoint on Friday at 9:06 p.m. The reported loss was approximately $650 to $700. The suspects were gone upon the arrival of MPD.

MPD officers responded to a report of a woman being assaulted in an alley at the intersection of 13th Avenue Southeast and 4th Street Southeast outside of The Pourhouse in Dinkytown on Saturday at midnight. The victim said she followed two of the suspects into the alley, where they met up with the third suspect. The three suspects reportedly pushed the victim to the ground and began kicking her head. The suspects then took the victim’s wallet from her purse and fled on foot. The victim had limited descriptions of the suspects.

A University student reported being robbed and assaulted on 18th Avenue Southeast on Wednesday at 11:17 p.m. to MPD. The victim was punched multiple times before having his iPhone stolen by three men. The victim’s nose was bleeding, but he declined medical treatment and was transported home, according to a MPD report.

MPD officers responded to a reported robbery after a University student stated he had been robbed by two men at gunpoint at 22nd Avenue and Como Avenue Southeast on Wednesday at 9:41 p.m. The victim told MPD officers he was walking to a friend’s house when the incident occurred. The two suspects fled in a sedan operated by a third suspect.

University students reported a burglary to MPD officers after an unknown suspect entered their WaHu apartment while it was occupied and took two laptop computers. The incident occurred on Sunday at 9 p.m.

MPD officers responded to a burglary at 2900 University Ave SE after a University student reported an unknown suspect broke into his dwelling and stole packages and vandalized vehicles. The incident occurred on Wednesday at 1 a.m.

UMPD Lieutenant Chuck Miner said crimes committed by students were low, resulting in an uneventful week for the department.

“As it gets colder out and closer to the holidays and students are busy with homework, things tend to die down,” he said.

UMPD officers responded to a report of a narcotics violation on Saturday at 4:42 a.m. near the Commons Hotel on Washington Avenue Southeast. The arrested male was booked at Hennepin County Jail.

“It was a fairly quiet weekend [for the UMPD]. Couple underage consumptions, couple of thefts. Not a lot of student-based crime,” Miner said.
