The USCHO.com preseason poll for college men's hockey came out Monday, and it gave the Gophers less respect than the USA Today/USA Hockey poll, which was released in late September.
Minnesota sits in a distant second place in the poll behind Boston College. The Eagles received 35 first-place votes compared to the Gophers' 12 and Michigan’s three. Boston College plays Minnesota at the Mariucci Classic in December.
Other members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in the top-20 include No. 4 North Dakota, No. 8 Denver, No. 12 Minnesota-Duluth, No. 18 Wisconsin and No. 20 Colorado College.
St. Cloud State, Nebraska-Omaha, Michigan Tech and Minnesota State-Mankato also received votes in the poll.
