City tows more than one thousand in season’s first snow emergency

A weekend snow storm dumped 8 inches of snow on the Twin Cities. Minneapolis issued a snow emergency Saturday afternoon.

Along with the first snowfall of the season came a total of 1,047 cars that were towed due to snow emergency violations Saturday and Sunday.

More than 8 inches of snow was recorded at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. The city of Minneapolis declared a snow emergency Saturday afternoon. Monday is the third and final day of the snow emergency, which ends tonight at 8 p.m.

University of Minnesota junior Jeanne Klein was among the towed.

She said she walked outside and thought, âÄúMy car is gone, the whole street is cleared. I had no idea there was a snow emergency.âÄù
