Former Gopher named basketball analyst

Former Gophers basketball player Spencer Tollackson will serve as a radio analyst for Gophers basketball broadcasts during the 2009-10 season, the University of Minnesota announced on Saturday.

Tollackson, who finished sixth in Gophers history with a .525 career field-percentage and played in 119 games (tied for eighth-most), will join fourth-year play-by-play announcer Mike Grimm on the Gopher Radio Network for all the regular season and postseason games, the release said.

A native of Chaska, Tollackson was one of three captains for the 2007-08 season, which was the first under Gophers head coach Tubby Smith.  Tollackson was the third-leading scorer (9.3 points per game) on a team that finished 20-14 and lost to Maryland in the first round of the NIT.
