Gophers swimmer Kierra Smith was again recognized by the Big Ten conference with the Swimmer of the Week and Freshman of the Week awards.
At the Minneapolis Grand Prix this weekend, Smith placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.11 and in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:39.74. She was second in the 200 individual medley at 2:00.11 and third in the 100 breaststroke at 1:00.43.
Her 200 breaststroke time was an NCAA automatic qualifying mark, while her 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley times were NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
This is Smith's second Swimmer of the Week award and fourth Freshman of the Week award of her season and career.
The Gophers will take two weeks off before returning to competition by hosting the Jean Freeman Invite Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
