ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A Powerball ticket sold in Minnesota is worth $49 million, lottery officials said Sunday.
The winner chose cash option, which translates into an upfront, lump-sum payment of $28.4 million. After taxes, the winner will take home about $18.1 million.
The winning numbers drawn Saturday night were: 2, 3, 5, 24, 25 and Powerball 8.
“This $49 million jackpot win tops our past largest jackpot by more than $20 million,” said Minnesota State Lottery Director George Andersen.
Andersen encourages players to check their tickets carefully and if they have the winner, sign the back in ink immediately. The winner will receive a check about two weeks after the ticket is redeemed.
This is the second winning Powerball jackpot ticket sold in Minnesota in the last six months. Ralph and Darlene Collier of Montgomery won a $14.9 million Powerball jackpot in late March.
The name of the winner and the location where the ticket was sold will be announced after the winning ticket is validated.
