The U.S. women's basketball team won the gold medal against France 86-50 on Saturday in London.
The Americans consistently outscored the French, by five points in the first quarter, seven points in the second quarter, 14 points in the third quarter and 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Former Gophers guard Lindsay Whalen played 16 minutes and scored three points with two assists. Her Minnesota Lynx teammate Maya Moore started, playing 26 minutes and scoring six points with two assists. Another teammate Seimone Augustus played 15 minutes and scored eight points.
It was the fifth consecutive Olympic gold for the U.S. women. They ended the tournament undefeated and have won 41 consecutive games in the Olympics.
Australia earned the bronze medal after beating Russia 83-74.
