The Big Ten conference named Gophers volleyball player Daly Santana its Freshman of the Week on Monday.

The outside hitter averaged 2.6 kills, 2.3 digs and 0.3 blocks per set in Wednesday's 3-1 win against Michigan and Friday's 3-2 win against Michigan State.

Against the Wolverines, she tied her career high in kills with 14 and hit .370 with eight digs and two blocks.

This is the Puerto Rico native's first Big Ten honor. The last Minnesota freshman of the week was current junior captain Ashley Wittman in 2010.

The Gophers face Iowa and Nebraska away this weekend.
