Shots fired in Marcy-Holmes over the weekend

Minneapolis police responded to two incidents of shots fired in the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood on Saturday.

Gun shots were fired in two separate incidents early Saturday in Marcy-Holmes, according to an alert from the 2nd Precinct. 

Minneapolis police, assisted by University of  Minnesota police, responded to a shots fired call on the 700 block of Sixth Avenue Southeast at about 1:30 a.m. Officers learned that the dispute was between two parties that knew each other. There were no injuries. 

Around half an hour later, officers received a call that two vehicles were exchanging gunfire nearby on the 300 block of Ninth Street Southeast. Witnesses told police that the vehicles were a red Toyota sedan and a black sedan, and both fled the scene. Police do not have information of any victims.

On Aug. 3 at midnight, a person was shot in a drive-by shooting at an intersection in Dinkytown. The victim was not a University student. The suspect fled the scene.
