University of Minnesota head football coach Tim Brewster announced Monday the indefinite suspension of defensive back Kyle Theret, who was arrested early Sunday for driving while intoxicated. University police stopped TheretâÄôs vehicle near the 500 block of 14th Avenue Southeast in Dinkytown. According to the police report, the officer observed TheretâÄôs vehicle hit a parked vehicle and pull away. Officers arrested Theret for fourth-degree DWI after determining he was intoxicated. Theret, 21, was booked into Hennepin County Jail at 3:04 a.m. Sunday for the DWI, which is classified as a misdemeanor. According to jail records, he was released later that morning. According to a statement released by the UniversityâÄôs athletic communications department, neither Brewster nor Theret will be available for further comment on the matter. The statement cites the suspension as resulting from âÄúviolation of team rules and policies.âÄù It remains unclear whether Theret will continue spring practice or play in the April 24 spring game. âÄúThe spring game is considered part of spring practice,âÄù Associate Director for Athletics Communications Andy Seeley said, âÄúso that is going to be up to Coach Brewster.âÄù TheretâÄôs court date is set for May 24.
